Our people

Directors, Senior Management and Corporate Governance

Group management comprises executives who are responsible for the day to day management of subsidiary trading entities and others who manage business units supplying services to these operating entities.

The General Managers of the Operating Entities report to the NTAW CEO and to the Board of Directors of each Operating Entity. The NTAW CEO reports to the NTAW Board.

Each of the service business units has a General Manager who reports to the NTAW CEO. The NTAW CFO provides financial information to the Board.

Board of Directors

Murray Boyte

Independent, Non Executive Chairman

Murray has over 35 years in merchant banking and finance, undertaking company reconstructions, mergers and acquisitions in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Hong Kong. In addition, he has held executive positions and Directorships in the transport, horticultural, financial services, investment , property industries, and health service.

Murray was appointed a Director and Chairman on the 24th October 2017 and is a member of NTAW’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and Remuneration & Nominations Committee.

Peter Ludemann

Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

Peter Joined the Group as a Director on the 5th October 2012 and became the full time CEO of NTAW in July 2013. He has degrees in Law and Commerce (Marketing) from UNSW. He has worked as a commercial lawyer, a director of numerous private companies, the Managing Director of a Life Science Investment firm and as a Private Equity Investment Manager at AMP Capital.

He has been the driving force behind the evolution of NTAW from a closely held family trust carrying on a niche 4WD tyre wholesale business to a more widely held entity operating in the car, SUV and 4WD tyre segments. He has managed the acquisition and integration of Dynamic, MPC, National Tyre Wholesalers and Top Draw.

Peter has been responsible for the execution of a succession plan for NTAW founders that has included the distribution of retained earnings, the creation of a large private company corporate structure and generational change within the main operating entities.

Terence (Terry) Smith

Executive Director

Terry has over 40 years' experience in tyre importing, wholesaling and retailing. Terry delivers on a career of successful entrepreneurship, as Terry & wife Susanne were responsible for taking ETD from a start-up business to one of the largest independent national tyre wholesalers in Australia.

Terry has been a Director since 8th February 2001 and is a member of NTAW's Remuneration and Nominations Committee.

Robert Kent

Independent, Non-Executive Director

Rob was the managing Director of Publicis Mojo (Queensland), part of a global advertising firm, from 2000 to 2017. He was also a member of the Publicis National Board of Management.

Rob is an experienced marketing executive who has managed many campaigns involving sales, promotion and brand building.

He was also Managing Director of Personalised Plates Queensland from 2013 to 2017. Under his management, sales grew by 34% over 4 years with internet traffic providing 75% of revenue.

Rob was a Director of ACT for Kids (a charity) from 2001 to 2013 and member of the Board of South Bank Business Association in Brisbane from 2002 to 2009.

He holds a Bachelor of Business degree (Marketing) from the Queensland University of Technology and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rob was appointed a Director on the 27th September 2017, is Chairman of NTAW's Remuneration & Nominations Committee and is a member of the Audit & Risk Management Committee.

William (Bill) Cook

Independent, Non-Executive Director

William (Bill) Cook is an Independent Non-Executive Director of NTAW. Bill commenced his career at Ford Motor Company in finance. He worked for Consolidated Press Holdings with the late Kerry Packer from 1983 to 1996 as Head of M&A and worldwide reporting. After two years as General Manager of Qantas Flight Catering’s Sydney business he undertook Private Equity investment consulting roles, and subsequently joined AMP Capital as an investment manager in the Private Equity team. Since leaving AMP Mr Cook has served as non-executive director for a number of companies, including NTAW since 2013.

Bill was appointed a Director on the 13th June 2013, is Chairman of NTAW's Audit & Risk Management Committee and is a member of the Remuneration & Nominations Committee.

Jason Lamb, Chief Financial Officer

Jason joined ETD in 2007. He has 17 years accountancy experience. He is a Certified Practicing Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Economics) from the University of Queensland.

Jason was responsible for setting up the financial accounting systems for NTAW and ETD. He has also been responsible for all financial due diligence work relating to business acquisitions and the establishment of financial reporting systems for those operating entities.

Jason is a member of the senior management committees at ETD (Australia) and ETD (New Zealand) which oversees significant strategic decisions for those operating entities. He participates in all Board meetings for NTAW and each operating entity as well as overseeing the production of financial reports for all entities.

Brad Smith, National Sales Manager - ETD Australia

Brad has 24 years of experience in the tyre industry, across a diverse range of roles in both retail and wholesale sectors.

Brad joined ETD in 2003 as a sales representative. He was appointed State Manager of the Victorian branch of ETD in 2008, State Manager of the Queensland Branch in 2011 and was responsible for managing the Mickey Thompson brand nationally from 2005 to 2014. Brad was appointed National Sales Manager for ETD in 2014.

Brad has been instrumental in the launch of new Cooper products, the Cooper passenger tyre brand extension, the TCC program, ETD's 360° Partner Program and the implementation of ETD's customer relationship management systems.

Chris Hummer, Managing Director – Dynamic Wheel Co.

Chris is the founder of Dynamic Wheels.

He contracted for Sime Darby as the International Marketing Representative in Malaysia and created the Simex 4WD tyre. He remains actively involved in the 4WD industry and is a regular participant in off-road races.

He started his first business, an automotive roadside assistance firm, in 1989 and diversified into wheel and tyre wholesaling when Dynamic Wheels was formed in 1997.

Chris has been responsible for growing Dynamic into a national wheel wholesaler and building the Dynamic brand of wheels.

He is a Non-Executive Director of Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce and served as a Non-Executive Director of Tyre Stewardship Australia from 2013 to 2015. He holds a Company Directors diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Simon Billington, General Manager – ETD New Zealand

Simon is the General Manager of ETD (New Zealand). He has a degree in Business Studies (Marketing) from Massey University.

In addition to experience managing a retail tyre shop in Wellington, Simon was a Sales Representative for OTR, a New Zealand tyre wholesaler from 2002 to 2011. He was General Manager of OTR for a year before joining ETD in 2013 to set up its operations in New Zealand.

Simon has been managing the ETD (New Zealand) business since then, building a team of 15 people, expanding the product platform to include Cooper, Mickey Thompson, Federal, CRS Tyres and Dynamic Wheels.

Georg Schramm, Managing Director - Top Draw Tyres South Africa

Georg is the Managing Director of Top Draw. He has graduated with a Master of Business Management from Wits Business School in South Africa. He completed the "Orchestrating Winning Performance" course in 2009 at IMD University in Switzerland.

Georg worked as a sales representative for Dunlop Tyres in 1989. He returned as a Regional Manager in 1996 and became General Manager for a number of regions later that year.

In 2006, Georg became Marketing, Sales and Operations Director after Dunlop was acquired by Apollo Tyres South Africa, a business with revenues of 2.8 billion Rand.

Georg was the founding shareholder or Top Draw in 2011 and that business now imports and distributes Cooper and Mickey Thompson branded tyres in Southern Africa.

Roshan Chelvaratnam, Managing Director – MPC Mags & Tyres

Roshan Chelvaratnam is the Founder and Managing Director or MPC Mags and Tyres. A 7 year tenure at Qantas in aircraft engineering developed skills and knowledge that have been transferred to product design and development at MPC.

Roshan’s entrepreneurial spirit has seen him start and operate a number of businesses across the automotive, import, export and wholesale markets. His lateral thinking, commitment to his customers and tenacity has contributed to building a successful business operation at MPC.

Andrew James, National Corporate Development Manager

Andrew James is the National Corporate Development Manager for NTAW, responsible for product development (including testing and technical training) and channel management. He is also a key member of the M&A team at NTAW. He has spent 27 years in the tyre industry with qualifications as an Automotive Tyre Service Instructor (TIA).

Andrew took leave from a University course to join National Tyre Wholesalers (then the NSW/ACT distributor of Cooper products) in 1990 and never looked back. As one of the first employees in that business, Andrew was involved in every aspect of building the Cooper brand alongside ETD. He rose to become General Manager in 2005, a position he held when the business merged with ETD in 2014.
